They're here!

Today, after I finished work, I met up with my husband, his parents and our son at the chicken farm near Abergavenny and bought our chickens. We are the proud owners of four beautiful birds, a Bluebell, a Black Rock, a White Star and a lovely brown hen. We just need to think of some names for them now. They have settled in well so far, but there has been a little bit of fighting between the Star and Bluebell. My husband has just put them to bed, although they didn't seem to want to go despite it being dark outside. Fingers crossed they will more adjusted tomorrow.

Our Black Rock

As I mentioned in my previous posts, I have been thinking of different motifs for my bunting. Below are a few of the new motifs that will be added to my listings on Folksy

These are for the boys (cars, flying saucers and rocket ship)

And some cute little birds for the girls

Hope you like them....:o)

Been Inspired this week....must be the sunshine!

I've been busy again and finished off two Happy Birthday buntings for two little boys, one is two on Sunday and the other is one on Monday. I have also been trying out different techniques in order to photograph them. With these, I just found a sheet of A1 paper and took them outside in the sun to make the most of the light. (My husbands Digital SLR helps too)

This one is dark blue, red and white,....

....and this one is dark and light blue and red.

What do you think of the shots? Arty?

Well, I mentioned in my last blog that I needed some inspiration as to what other motifs I could use for the boys bunting and I took my sketch pad to bed and started scribbling. I have doodled up sketches of rocket ships ( my son's bedroom theme), cars and tractors. I know, I know, ....... they are the stereotypical ideas for boys, but then that would be the themes people would have for their rooms.

Any-who, I also had an idea for a different kind of bunting, as in not a name or "Happy Birthday", just simple, colourful flags maybe with a motif on every couple of flags. For myself, I have planned an Indian Summer theme, with bright oranges, blues, greens, and pinks......with a Peacock motif, and little bells on the ends of the flags for when the wind catches it. It would look great with our new seating that my husband has nearly finished.

Oh just thought I would share with you, our chicken coop is now complete, all we need now are the chickens. Off to Abergavenny on Sunday to price up our birds ...... x

My long weekend is over!

Been a busy bee today finishing off two orders for bunting. One has been shipped off to Canada (although not quite sure when it will arrive) and the other will be in the post tomorrow to Kent. Both of them were for girls, so I was able to make them really girlie. I need to think of some more boy motifs other than stars. Here are some photographs of the finished products...

Rachael's in Canada, and.....

Nisha's in Kent.

I decided not to continue advertising my bunting on ebay, instead I've opted to "set up shop" on www.folksy.com. The site is full of other budding crafters, they're cheaper and they don't charge commission.

Oh, thankfully my husband managed to make it home safely in the small hours of Saturday after 21 hours of travelling.......Nos Da x

A bad start to the day that feels like it keeps getting worse......

Was slightly wishing I hadn't had the radio on in my car this morning as I discovered that my husband, who has been working in Belfast this week, will not be flying home tomorrow. Instead he will need to travel down to Dublin and then get a ferry over to North Wales and some how get back home. In addition to this news my mum, who lives in Spain, was due to fly over tomorrow and I was due to drive myself and my son to see her and some of my family in Liverpool. So frustrating! It is crazy how nothing can fly and the sky be so clear and blue.

I did manage to take this rather weird photograph on my travels today, how nasty is that cloud line?

On a lighter note, how cute are these two?

Woohoo.....Sold Another!

As you can probably guess, I have sold another bunting to a lovely lady in Kent. I am now in turmoil as to whether to continue advertising my bunting on Ebay as I feel I should be selling more, especially as I have been advertising since January. What do you think? ......

Well, I am currently sat on my sofa, with a mug of coffee (decaf of course) watching Miss Dahl making Bubble and Squeak, and the last Creme Egg. I am trying to think of things to make, with Summer on its way and all. The sunshine has already had an amazing effect on me over the weekend as I had an urge to make lemon curd,.......and then from that to bake a great big lemon Victoria sponge cake filled with lemon curd and cream..... oh it was stunning! Don't worry, I hope to start posting recipes on this blog soon, especially and nature will start to yield it's bounty soon.

Right, off to start cutting my felt and drink my cuppa x

Here's a photograph of my rather yummy cake, needless to say it didn't stay whole for very long :o)

What a Fine Day!!!

Well, I am well and truly pooped after my son running rings round me all day. My husband has been busy in the garden constructing our chicken coop, so I've been trying to keep the little man occupied. I can't wait till our garden is finally child safe so he can run around and get mucky, it's going to be a long time though.

I have three birthdays coming up, so have been busy making my birthday bunting again. I have already finished one boy's, just another boy and a girl to go. I had a sort through my bag of felt last night, whilst trying to decide what colours to use for the last boy's one, I didn't realise I had so much felt left.....best get crafting.

Here is a picture of one of the completed presents

Whilst searching for ideas on things to make, I have come across two blog sites that provide tutorials, Bugs and Fishes by Lupin and Yoonie at Home. These girls create some amazing things!!

Hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine...........fingers crossed the weather is like this tomorrow! Nos Da

How it all started...

Please bear with me if I start to waffle.....

After my son was born last year, I decided I wanted to make toys for him. I went to Hobbycraft and found a book called "Toys to Sew" written by Claire Garland. The book is jam packed full of really cool projects for the advanced stitcher down to a novice (or someone like me who hasn't sewn since school). I decided to tackle making a T Rex and when it was finished I was so proud of myself, and it didn't seem to take me very long to make...result!

When my friend's little girl's first birthday was coming up, I offered to make a felt bunting banner. My head was filled with ideas, how to make it, what colours to use. I finally settled on the style of letters and to incorporate numbers so the banner can be used for nine birthdays. The banner spelt "Happy 1 Birthday Emily" using primary and secondary colours....it was great and my friend was thrilled! And that's how it all officially started, I became hooked on crafting!
